The Grand Traverse Pie Company uses the Rubel blueberry for all of our blueberry products.  All of our blueberries are grown right here in Michigan and come from True Blue Farms, located in Grand Junction, Michigan – which is considered to be the Blueberry Capital of the world.  Blueberry farming has been a long time family tradition of the Hartmanns, owners of True Blue Farms, dating back to the early 1900s when blueberries were first pioneered in Michigan.

The Rubel blueberry was one of the first commercially named blueberry varieties. It is a true wild selection with deep blue, exquisitely sweet fruit. Where newer cultivars have traded their nutritive qualities for larger size, lighter color, and thinner skins, Rubel has retained its rich antioxidant content (twice that of other varieties) and unequalled, sweet, intense flavor.

One cup of blueberries is only 80 calories, with no fat.  They are high in vitamin C, fiber, manganese and antioxidants.
