Schools – Win Free Pie in GT Pie’s Pi Day Video Contest

Teachers, how many digits of Pi can your classroom recite? Are they a wiz at all things π? It’s almost time for the coolest and yummiest mathematical day of the year – Pi Day, March 14th. It’s no secret that we love pie and Pi here at Grand Traverse Pie Company. To celebrate, we are opening our very popular Pi Day Video Contest to schools and classrooms to honor math and education.

How to Enter:

  • Film your classroom reciting Pi digits. Get creative! Recite Pi in a foreign language, using sign language, while doing a headstand, etc.
  • Post your video directly on our Facebook page.
  • Or post your video on Instagram. Tag us using @gtpie. Note: Videos must be public.
  • Videos must be less than 2 minutes (1 minute for Instagram). Videos must be posted by 11:59 pm EDT on 3.14.17. Winners will be announced on 3.16.17*
  • Our contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook or Instagram.

Grand Prize:

The most creative video will win $500 for their classroom!

Do you have to be a “traditional education” school? I own a dance school and we’d love to dance Pi!

    1. Erin says:

Hi Allie, we love that idea! This particular contest/reward is only open to schools/nonprofits, but we do have our general video contest too! You can find details about the Grand Prize on our blog.

  2. Andrea White says:

Does it have to be an entire class, or can we have multiple entries from the same class/school?

    1. Erin says:

Hi Andrea, you are welcome to have as many entries as you’d like from your class or school! 🙂

      1. Andrea White says:

Thank you. I have a couple other questions. If we live in Missouri, can we still participate? And my other question is if we can, would I have to submit all the entries or could my students upload it?

        1. Erin says:

Yes, absolutely! This is open to all states. 🙂 If you’d prefer to have your students directly upload the videos that is perfectly fine. Videos posted on our Facebook page can be up to 2 minutes long and Instagram is limited to 60 seconds. Instagram videos will have to be posted from a public account in order for us to see them. Please feel free to post more questions or you can also email me at gtpiesocial@gmail.com.

Is there a winner yet, my students were asking me all today. Thanks so much, they all had a good time making them!

Hello Andrea, we announced the winners on our blog today. Your students did an awesome job! I hope you decide to join in the Pi Day fun again next year. 🙂

  3. Steven Govern says:

Can the video still be posted tomorrow (3/14) to be eligible?

    1. Erin says:

Yes, absolutely! Videos must be posted by 11:59pm EDT on Pi Day in order to be considered. We will do our voting on Wednesday. 🙂
