A week of fun at the National Cherry Festival
From cherry pie to Ultimate Air Dogs, this is how we spent our National Cherry Festival… how did you spend yours?
We kicked off the fun-filled week by hitting the TART Trail on a 10 mile bike ride – the Cherry Pie Bike Ride. This ride benefits Norte! and is a fun ride for the whole family beginning at the Open Space and continuing on the TART Trail to Dalzell Road. After the ride cyclists are treated to a free slice of pie. Norte! is Traverse City’s bike-centric, youth-focused nonprofit (501c3) advocacy organization. They are dedicated to building a more bike-friendly TC by inspiring our young people through bicycles.
Throughout the week we met so many new faces at the Open Space and in our pie shops. In addition to serving the festival’s signature pie (our Cherry Crumb pie) we were thrilled to welcome Cherry Rhubarb pie to the menu. This delicious pie features rhubarb from Old Mission Peninsula’s Bewitched Farm.
On Thursday, we once again sponsored the Annual Kids’ Make and Bake. It’s one of our favorite days of the year! We get the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful families and talking about a subject near and dear to us at GT Pie. All proceeds went to the Children’s Advocacy Center to help build a safer community for children and help prevent sexual abuse. For prevention information please visit traversebaycac.org.
We hope you enjoy our video recap from the 89th National Cherry Festival! We’d love to hear how you spent your Cherry Festival. Share some of your favorite events or moments with us!
