Cherry Harvest in Northern Michigan
Cherry harvest season is one of our most favorite times of the year! We recently took a field trip to Amos Orchards in northern Michigan to see where it all begins. After harvest, these gorgeous Michigan Montmorency tart cherries then head off to Smeltzer Orchards where they will be processed and will eventually become PIE!
Every cherry used in our pies are grown by Michigan farmers. We believe it’s important to support our local agriculture. We also feel that the fruit grown in Michigan is among the very best.

Fantastic finale to a fabulous Michigan vacation beginning in Southwest Ohio, on to Mackinac City, to White Fish Bay, to Mackinac Island, returning to Ohio via Ann Arbor area where we discovered the Grand Traverse Pie Company! Michigan cherries were on my list…cherry crumb pie perfection!
That sounds like such a wonderful vacation and road trip, Michele! We are so happy you discovered us in Ann Arbor. Thank you for stopping in and for leaving us a message on our website too. We hope to see you again next time you’re in Michigan!
