A Pie Journey to Jason Mraz in New York City
Have you heard of the hit Broadway show, Waitress? Waitress is a musical which tells the story of Jenna Hunterson, a waitress at Joe’s Pie Diner, where her job includes creating inventive pies with unusual titles inspired by her life. After Jenna unexpectedly becomes pregnant in her unhappy marriage she begins an affair with her gynecologist Dr. Jim Pomatter, played by singer-songwriter Jason Mraz. Looking for ways out she sees a pie contest and its grand prize as her chance.
Traverse City resident, Missy Carson Smith, contacted us about her plan to go to New York City to see Waitress and to bring a pie from Grand Traverse Pie Company to Jason Mraz. Missy is a HUGE superfan of Jason Mraz and has taken other Michigan-related items to Jason’s shows in the past to share her love of Michigan. Missy picked up an Apple Crumb Pie and Love Peace Apple Pie apron to take to Jason.
